From Fleets Game Guide

Jump to: navigation, search

Fleets is an online multiplayer space warfare strategy game where players control vast armadas of warships vying for control of the galaxy.

Take systems and plunder their resources to fuel your war machine. Establish outposts and lay down defenses. Build massive battlecruisers and dreadnoughts to overwhelm your opponents with sheer firepower, or amass squadrons of interceptors and frigates to achieve victory through superior numbers. Exploit weaknesses in the enemy's formations, or prevail through superior research or industrial base. The choice is yours!

The following is the Game Guide. We suggest reading everything it has to offer. If you want to jump right into the game your first stops might want to be Movement, Combat, and Construction.

Enjoy!

FAQs

Where can I connect with other players?

  • Connect with other players on the | Fleets Forums! You can use the board to find team members, discuss game strategy, and more.
  • And finally, you can follow us on | Twitter where we'll be keeping you up-to-date on what's new, what we're fixing, and what's coming!

What is a Tick?

A tick is equivalent to a turn played in a standard board game. Because we have players all over the world, the turn or tick plays universally for everyone in a zone. Each zone, or map, will have different options for the length in between ticks and what times of day the zone advances. Find out more at Choosing a Zone: Zone Types & Ticks.

How do I gain more resources?

Running out of resources too fast? Earn more by surveying with your Flagships and building outposts and mining satellites.

My construction is incomplete and I no longer have a constructor on the hex to complete it, how do I finish construction?

You can continue construction with any construction frigate or support carrier. Select your fleet, then select the outpost button in the bottom right commands box [this will show your list of satellites]. At the bottom select the 'Continue' button and then the select building you wish to finish constructing.

Is my hex unsurveyed even though I built an outpost there?

Your starting hex and outpost are automatically fully surveyed, but beyond that you must do the rest. Use your Flagships to survey hexes where outposts and satellites sit to gain their full resources every tick and earn fun items.

Do I need to have a flagship slot open in my zone to warp in a Persistent Flagship?

Yes! The persistent ship acts like a new flagship in the zone you warp it into, so you will need a flagship slot available for the persistent ship to generate.

What happens if I withdraw from a zone with a Persistent Flagship in it?

Your flagship will be auto returned to your Staging Area.

Do I need to have the technology researched for the specific flagship type in a zone before I can warp in that type of Persistent Flagship?

No, you may warp in a Command Cruiser, Dreadnought, Supper Carrier...etc before you have researched the appropriate technology to build that ship type in a zone. This is one of the reasons why warping in takes several ticks and a lot of resources.

Help! I just started and already I'm under attack. What do I do?

Don't give up! Starting players actually appear and take over reserved NPC starting areas. This is why joining a game when it has already started will often see you already having a larger fleet and some random research already accomplished. Some players may already have breached the pirate wall denoting the start border to claim the unused areas. A message to the attacking player is often all it takes to get him or her to stop and take a truce. Or, if you feel that your prebuilt fleet is strong enough, you may also strike back at the fleets weakened by fighting through the pirate wall and reverse the situation!
